Back in 2014, on a trip to Orlando, I discovered we weren't far from the legendary Lucky Supply Tattoo Museum. They were so welcoming and friendly, I couldn't wait to go back. This time, they agreed to show us around the warehouses, pulling back the curtain on their production process, all the while surrounded by years of tattoo history.Lucky Supply is a family owned and operated tattoo supplier established in 2000 by Jimmy Whitlock. Lucky's has a strong passion for the highest quality products, with most products manufactured in-house or produced by a tight-knit group of tattooers. Jimmy and his team create some of the best equipment available, machining parts for your favourite builders, including Bert Krak, Aaron Cain and many other massive names. Having witnessed the process first hand, it’s clear that attention to detail is of paramount importance.
When I first got started in tattooing, I remember being blown away by the work coming out of Australia. The ever changing style of neo-traditional being pushed out by the heavyweight giants from the other side of the world melted my mind. Wendy Pham, one of the many incredible talents from across the seas, was one of my biggest influences back then so to get the opportunity to chat with her and pick her brain was incredibly humbling.Wendy's blend of westernised Japanese with strong neo-trad elements really does stand out a mile, making for some incredibly refreshing tattoos. Wendy Pham now works from Taiko Gallery in Berlin alongside the equally talented Guen Douglas so we caught up with them at the 10th annual Brighton Tattoo Convention, with Guen's interview following soon.
When tattooer Andrew Castruita offered to cover the Star City Tattoo and Arts Expo for us, I knew we had to take him up on the offer. The venue for this Texan based event peaked our interests and I was certainly excited to see what Andrew came up with for us. I'll let him take over from here!
